Ingredients
- 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 chai tea bags
- 1/4 cup hot water
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine milk, cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, and black pepper. Whisk to combine.
- Place over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer, whisking occasionally. Do not boil.
- Meanwhile, steep chai tea bags in hot water for 3-5 minutes. Remove tea bags and set aside.
- Once milk mixture is hot and steaming, remove from heat. Stir in the chai concentrate.
- Use a frother or whisk to froth the latte until foamy.
- Pour into two mugs. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings if desired. Serve immediately.
Tips
- Adjust sweetness to your preference by adding more or less sugar.
- For a stronger chai flavor, steep the tea bags longer or use two additional bags.
- Make it dairy-free by using almond, oat, or soy milk.
