Ingredients
1 loaf French bread or Italian bread (about 12 oz)
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Slice the bread in half lengthwise and place cut side up on the baking sheet.
In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Spread the garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese over the butter, then top with the shredded mozzarella.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are golden brown.
If desired, broil for 1-2 minutes for extra browning. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
Remove from oven, sprinkle with chopped parsley if using, let cool for 2 minutes, then slice into pieces and serve warm.
Tips
For extra garlic flavor, use roasted garlic instead of raw.
Serve immediately for the best texture; leftovers can be reheated in a toaster oven.
Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
