Ingredients
1 mini burger bun
1/4 lb (115g) ground beef (80/20)
1 slice American cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 small potato, cut into thin fries
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1/4 cup apple slices
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss potato fries with oil and spread on a baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
Meanwhile, season ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into a flat patty slightly larger than the bun (it will shrink).
Heat a small skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patty for 3 minutes per side for medium doneness. In the last minute, place cheese slice on patty and cover pan to melt.
Toast the bun in the skillet or oven until lightly golden.
Assemble burger: spread ketchup and mustard on bottom bun, add patty with cheese, then top bun.
Serve burger with baked fries and apple slices on the side.
Tips
For picky eaters, you can cut the burger into small pieces or serve deconstructed.
Swap apple slices for carrot sticks or cucumber slices if preferred.
Let the burger rest for 1 minute before serving to prevent juice from running out.
