Ingredients
2 cups water
4 whole green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
4 whole black peppercorns
2 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick (2-inch)
1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced
2 black tea bags (or 2 teaspoons loose leaf black tea)
2 cups whole milk
2 tablespoons honey or sugar, or to taste
Instructions
In a small saucepan, combine water, cardamom, peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon stick, and ginger. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the spices.
Add the tea bags, cover, and steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on desired strength.
Remove from heat. Strain the tea through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean saucepan, discarding spices and tea bags.
Add milk and honey (or sugar) to the strained tea. Whisk to combine.
Heat over medium heat until hot but not boiling, whisking occasionally to create froth.
Divide between two mugs. Serve immediately.
Tips
For a dairy-free version, substitute whole milk with oat or almond milk.
Adjust sweetness and spice levels to your preference.
To make a larger batch, scale ingredients proportionally and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently.
