Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Brew a single shot of espresso (about 1 oz) using an espresso machine or stovetop moka pot. Alternatively, brew 1/2 cup of very strong coffee using a French press or drip coffee maker.
  2. While the coffee is brewing, heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until steaming but not boiling (about 150°F/65°C).
  3. Froth the milk using a milk frother, French press, or whisk until it doubles in volume and has a creamy microfoam. For a French press, pump the plunger vigorously for 30 seconds.
  4. Pour the espresso into a warmed mug. If desired, stir in sugar.
  5. Gently pour the frothed milk over the espresso, holding back the foam with a spoon. Spoon the remaining foam on top.
  6. Serve immediately.
