Ingredients
1 cup long-grain white rice
2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
Rinse the rice in a fine-mesh strainer under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 15-18 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
Add the butter pieces to the rice and fluff with a fork until the butter is melted and evenly distributed. Serve immediately.
Tips
For extra flavor, use chicken or vegetable broth instead of water.
Leftover buttered rice can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop with a splash of water.
