Ingredients
1 sesame seed bun
1/4 lb (113g) ground beef (80/20)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 slice American cheese
2 slices tomato
2 slices dill pickle
1/4 cup shredded lettuce
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 tablespoon ketchup
1/4 onion, sliced
1 medium potato (for fries)
Oil for frying
Salt for fries
1 can (12 oz) soda or 16 oz fountain drink
Instructions
Preheat a grill or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Form ground beef into a patty slightly larger than the bun, season with salt and pepper.
Grill the patty for 3-4 minutes per side for medium, adding cheese on top during the last minute. Toast the bun cut-side down on the grill for 30 seconds.
While patty cooks, slice potato into thin fries. Soak in cold water for 10 minutes, then drain and pat dry. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry potatoes in batches until golden, about 4-5 minutes. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
Assemble the burger: Spread mayonnaise on the bottom bun, then add lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and the patty with cheese. Spread ketchup on the top bun and place on top.
Serve the burger immediately with fries and a drink.
Tips
For an authentic flame-grilled taste, use a charcoal or gas grill.
Adjust toppings to your preference; add extra pickles or onions if desired.
Fries can be baked at 425°F for 20-25 minutes for a healthier option.
