Ingredients
1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
4 hamburger buns
4 slices cheddar cheese
4 leaves lettuce
4 slices tomato
4 slices red onion
4 tbsp ketchup
4 tbsp mustard
4 large potatoes
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°F. Scrub potatoes and cut into 1/4-inch thick fries. Soak in cold water for 10 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
Toss fries with vegetable oil, salt, and pepper. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
While fries bake, divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the buns. Season with salt and pepper.
Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium. In the last minute, top each with a slice of cheese and cover to melt.
Toast buns on the grill or in a toaster. Assemble burgers: bun bottom, lettuce, tomato, patty with cheese, onion, ketchup, mustard, bun top.
Serve burgers immediately with hot fries.
Tips
For extra flavor, add pickles or bacon.
Fries can be seasoned with garlic powder or paprika.
