Ingredients
1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
4 hamburger buns
4 slices cheddar cheese
4 leaves lettuce
4 slices tomato
4 slices red onion
4 tbsp ketchup
4 tbsp mustard
4 large russet potatoes
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp paprika
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°F. Wash and cut potatoes into thin fries (about 1/4-inch thick). Soak in cold water for 10 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
Toss fries with olive oil, salt, and paprika. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the buns (they shrink when cooking).
Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness. In the last minute, top each patty with a slice of cheese and cover to melt.
Toast buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly browned.
Assemble burgers: place lettuce, tomato, onion on bottom bun, then patty with cheese, then ketchup and mustard on top bun. Serve immediately with fries.
Tips
For extra flavor, add a slice of bacon or pickles to the burger.
Fries can be seasoned with garlic powder or rosemary instead of paprika.
Leftover burgers can be refrigerated and reheated in a skillet.
Serve with a side of ranch dressing or mayonnaise for dipping fries.
