  2. Place bread cubes in the prepared dish. If using raisins, scatter them over the bread.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together milk, cream, eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread cubes. Press down gently to ensure all bread is soaked. Let stand for 10 minutes.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted near the center should come out clean.
  6. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.
