Ingredients
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh rosemary
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 egg, beaten (for wash)
1 tablespoon water (for wash)
Instructions
Prepare your favorite bread or roll dough according to your recipe, up to the point of shaping.
For cheese and herb inclusion: Gently knead the shredded cheddar and chopped rosemary into the dough until evenly distributed.
For seed crust: After shaping rolls or loaf, brush the surface with egg wash (beaten egg mixed with water) and sprinkle generously with sesame and sunflower seeds.
For fruit and nut inclusion: Knead dried cranberries and chopped walnuts into the dough before shaping.
Place shaped dough in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet. Cover and let rise until doubled.
Bake according to your base recipe's instructions, typically at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes for rolls or 35-40 minutes for a loaf.
Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Tips
To prevent seeds from falling off, press them gently into the dough after applying egg wash.
Store leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
For a sweeter roll, use cinnamon sugar instead of seeds on top.
