Ingredients
1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup mirin
2 tbsp sake
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 cups steamed white rice
1 cup steamed broccoli florets
1 carrot, julienned
1 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, ginger, and garlic to make teriyaki sauce.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add beef in a single layer and sear for 1-2 minutes per side until browned but not fully cooked.
Pour teriyaki sauce over the beef and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens and coats the beef.
Divide steamed rice among 4 bowls. Top with beef and sauce, then arrange broccoli and carrot alongside.
Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve immediately.
Tips
For a thicker sauce, mix 1 tsp cornstarch with 1 tbsp water and stir in during the last minute of cooking.
Substitute chicken or tofu for beef if desired.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
