Ingredients
1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
3 cups broccoli florets
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 cup beef broth
2 tsp cornstarch
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
2 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, beef broth, and cornstarch. Set aside.
Slice flank steak thinly against the grain into bite-sized strips.
Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add beef in a single layer and sear for 1-2 minutes per side until browned. Remove beef and set aside.
Add remaining 1 tablespoon oil to the skillet. Add broccoli and stir-fry for 2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
Add garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Return beef to the skillet. Pour the sauce over everything and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
Serve immediately over steamed rice.
Tips
For tender beef, freeze the steak for 15 minutes before slicing to make it easier to cut thin slices.
Add a splash of water if the sauce becomes too thick.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
