Ingredients
4 turkey drumsticks (about 3 lbs total)
1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Pat turkey drumsticks dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Rub the mixture all over the drumsticks.
Preheat grill to medium heat (about 350°F). If using charcoal, set up for indirect heat.
Place drumsticks on the grill grate over indirect heat. Cover and cook for 30 minutes, turning occasionally, until skin is golden and internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Brush drumsticks generously with BBQ sauce. Continue grilling for another 10-15 minutes, turning and basting with sauce every 5 minutes, until sauce is caramelized and internal temperature reaches 175°F for tender meat.
Remove from grill and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
Tips
For extra smoky flavor, add soaked wood chips (hickory or apple) to the grill.
Leftover drumsticks can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven or on the grill.
If using an oven, bake at 375°F for about 1 hour, basting with sauce in the last 15 minutes.
