Ingredients
1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
4 hamburger buns
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
4 leaves lettuce
4 slices tomato
4 frozen onion rings, prepared according to package directions
Instructions
Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape into patties, slightly larger than the buns. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Grill patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium, or until desired doneness. During the last minute, top each patty with a slice of cheddar cheese and close the grill lid to melt.
Toast buns on the grill for about 1 minute.
Assemble burgers: spread barbecue sauce on bottom bun, add lettuce, tomato, patty with cheese, and top with prepared onion rings. Cover with top bun.
Tips
For best results, use ground beef with at least 20% fat for juiciness.
Let patties rest for 2 minutes after grilling to redistribute juices.
Store leftover burgers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
