Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic until beef is browned and onion is soft; drain excess fat.
Stir in tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then add frozen vegetables. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in cooked macaroni and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese on top.
Evenly top with crushed barbecue chips. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until bubbly and chips are golden brown.
Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
Tips
For extra crunch, add more chips in the last 5 minutes of baking.
Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days; reheat in oven or microwave.
