Ingredients
2 slices bacon
1 large egg
1 slice American cheese
2 slices white bread
1 tablespoon butter, softened
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain. Pour off most of the fat, leaving a thin coating.
Crack the egg into the same skillet over medium heat. Cook until white is set but yolk is still runny, about 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Flip if desired, about 1 minute more.
Meanwhile, spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Place bread buttered-side down in a separate skillet or on a griddle over medium heat. Toast until golden, about 2 minutes per side.
Assemble sandwich: Place cheese on one slice of toast (unbuttered side), top with bacon, then egg, and finally the other slice of toast (buttered side out). Serve immediately.
Tips
For a less runny yolk, cook egg over medium until yolk is set to your preference.
Use thick-cut bacon for extra crunch.
Add a slice of tomato or avocado for extra flavor.
