3 black tea bags (or 1 tablespoon loose leaf tea)
1/2 cup granulated sugar, or to taste
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
Ice cubes
Lemon slices and mint sprigs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add tea bags, and steep for 3-5 minutes. Remove tea bags and let cool to room temperature.
In a small saucepan, combine remaining 2 cups water and sugar. Heat over medium, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool.
In a pitcher, combine cooled tea, simple syrup, and lemon juice. Stir well. Adjust sweetness or tartness to taste.
Refrigerate until chilled, at least 1 hour. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices and mint if desired.
Tips
For a stronger tea flavor, use 4 tea bags or steep longer.
To make a large batch, multiply ingredients and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
For a lower-calorie version, use a sugar substitute or reduce sugar to 1/4 cup.
