Ingredients
1.5 lbs (680g) ground beef (80/20)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
4 slices American cheese
4 hamburger buns, split
4 leaves lettuce
4 slices tomato
4 slices red onion
4 tablespoons ketchup
4 tablespoons yellow mustard
4 pickle spears
Instructions
In a bowl, gently mix ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about 3/4-inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty.
Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness, or until desired doneness. During the last minute, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover to melt.
Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a skillet until lightly golden.
Assemble burgers: spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom bun, add lettuce, tomato, onion, the patty with cheese, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
Serve immediately.
Tips
For best results, use 80/20 ground beef for juiciness.
Avoid overworking the meat to keep patties tender.
Let patties rest for a few minutes after cooking.
Customize with your favorite toppings like bacon or avocado.
