  1. Place tamarind pulp in a bowl with 2 cups warm water. Let soak for 15 minutes until softened.
  2. Using your hands, break up the pulp and separate the seeds and fibers. Discard seeds and fibers.
  3. Transfer the tamarind mixture to a blender. Add remaining 2 cups water and sugar. Blend until smooth.
  4. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing with a spoon to extract all liquid. Discard solids.
  5. Chill in refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Serve over ice.
