Ingredients
- 2 cups fruit juice (e.g., grape, apple, or orange) or flavored liquid
- 1 tablespoon agar-agar powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the agar-agar powder in 1/2 cup water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a saucepan, combine the fruit juice and sugar (if using). Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Add the dissolved agar-agar mixture to the saucepan, stirring constantly. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, ensuring the agar-agar is fully dissolved.
- Remove from heat and pour the mixture into a shallow dish or individual molds.
- Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours until fully set.
- Once set, cut into cubes or unmold and serve chilled.
Tips
- Use clear juices for a transparent jelly; cloudy juices will yield an opaque jelly.
- Agar-agar sets at room temperature, but refrigeration speeds up the process.
- Store leftover jelly in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
