Ingredients
1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
4 sesame seed hamburger buns
4 slices American cheese
4 leaves iceberg lettuce
4 slices tomato
1/2 red onion, sliced into rings
4 dill pickle slices
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp yellow mustard
1 tsp white vinegar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat grill or cast-iron skillet to high heat.
Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions (6 oz each). Shape into patties slightly larger than the buns, season with salt and pepper.
Grill patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium, flipping once. In the last minute, top each patty with a slice of cheese and cover to melt.
Toast buns on the grill for about 1 minute until lightly golden.
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder to make the sauce.
Assemble burgers: spread sauce on both top and bottom buns. Place lettuce on bottom bun, then patty with cheese, tomato, onion rings, and pickles. Close with top bun.
Serve immediately.
Tips
For a smokier flavor, cook patties on a charcoal grill.
Customize with bacon, jalapeños, or extra sauce.
