Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
- 4 sesame seed hamburger buns
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 leaves lettuce
- 4 slices tomato
- 1/2 cup sliced white onion
- 4 pickle slices
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat grill or cast-iron skillet to high heat.
- Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the buns. Season generously with salt and pepper.
- Grill patties for 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness. During the last minute, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover to melt.
- Toast buns on the grill or in a skillet until lightly golden.
- Spread mayonnaise on the top bun and ketchup on the bottom bun.
- Assemble burgers: bottom bun, lettuce, tomato, patty with cheese, onion, pickles, top bun.
