Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tbsp homemade blend)
- 2/3 cup water
- 4 individual 1-oz bags of corn chips (e.g., Fritos or Doritos)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
- Add taco seasoning and water to the beef. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
- Open each chip bag lengthwise along the side to create a wide opening. Gently crush the chips inside slightly.
- Divide the seasoned beef evenly among the bags, spooning it over the chips.
- Top each bag with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and olives if using. Serve immediately with a fork.
Tips
- For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with seasoned black beans or plant-based crumbles.
- You can use any flavor of chips; chili cheese or nacho cheese work great.
- Assemble just before serving to keep chips crunchy.
