Ingredients
2 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 slices thick bread (such as brioche or challah)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Maple syrup, for serving
Instructions
Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.
In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 15 seconds on each side. Let excess drip off.
Brush the preheated waffle iron with melted butter. Place one soaked bread slice onto the waffle iron and close the lid. Cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
Repeat with remaining bread slices, brushing the waffle iron with butter between each batch.
Serve immediately with maple syrup.
Tips
For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the egg mixture.
Keep cooked waffles warm in a 200°F oven while you finish the batch.
Leftover waffles can be frozen and reheated in a toaster.
