Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
4 hamburger buns
4 lettuce leaves
4 slices red onion (optional)
Instructions
Make cranberry sauce: In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, orange juice, maple syrup, and vinegar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until cranberries burst and sauce thickens, about 10 minutes. Mash slightly with a fork. Set aside to cool.
In a large bowl, mix ground turkey, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until just combined. Form into 4 patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
Grill or pan-fry patties over medium-high heat for 5-6 minutes per side, until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Toast buns lightly on the grill or in a skillet.
Assemble burgers: Place lettuce on bottom bun, add turkey patty, top with cranberry sauce and red onion slices if using. Cover with top bun.
Tips
For extra flavor, add a pinch of dried sage or thyme to the turkey mixture.
The cranberry sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to a week.
