- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce, tomato, onion, and condiments for serving
Instructions
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then crumble it into a large bowl.
- Add rolled oats, onion, garlic, soy sauce, tomato paste, smoked paprika, cumin, and black pepper. Mix well until combined.
- Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties.
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and heated through.
- Serve on burger buns with desired toppings.
Tips
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free oats and tamari instead of soy sauce.
- Patties can be baked at 375°F for 20 minutes, flipping halfway, instead of pan-frying.
- Leftover patties can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
