Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 bags black tea (or 2 tablespoons loose leaf)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 slices fresh ginger
- 1 vanilla bean, split (or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Remove from heat and add tea bags, cinnamon stick, ginger slices, and vanilla bean (if using). Steep for 10 minutes.
- Remove tea bags and strain out solids. If using vanilla extract, stir in now.
- Let cool completely. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- To use, mix 1-2 ounces of syrup with 2 ounces of spirit, add ice, and top with soda water or tonic.
Tips
- Adjust sweetness by varying sugar amount.
- For a floral note, add dried lavender or chamomile during steeping.
- Shake well before each use as syrup may settle.
