Ingredients
4 cups mini pretzels
1 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup mixed nuts (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Spread pretzels and nuts (if using) evenly on the baking sheet.
In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt; stir until sugars dissolve and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Pour the butter mixture over the pretzels and nuts; toss gently to coat evenly.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the mixture is bubbly and golden. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
Remove from oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet (the mixture will harden as it cools). Break into pieces if desired.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
Tips
For extra crunch, add 1 cup of crispy cereal like Chex or Cornflakes.
To make it spicier, add 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper to the butter mixture.
Store in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
