Ingredients
1 lb pizza dough, divided in half
1/2 cup pizza sauce
8 oz spicy Italian sausage, casings removed
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
2 tbsp olive oil
Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone or inverted baking sheet inside for at least 30 minutes.
On a floured surface, stretch each dough half into a 12-inch round. Transfer to parchment paper.
Spread 1/4 cup sauce on each round, leaving a 1-inch border.
Scatter crumbled sausage evenly over sauce, then top with mozzarella and Parmesan. Sprinkle red pepper flakes.
Slide pizzas (on parchment) onto preheated stone or sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes until crust golden and cheese bubbly.
Remove, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with basil if desired. Slice and serve hot.
Tips
For extra heat, use hot Italian sausage and add more red pepper flakes.
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat in a hot oven or skillet.
To save time, use pre-shredded mozzarella and store-bought dough.
