Ingredients
1 lb pizza dough, at room temperature
1/2 lb sweet or hot Italian sausage, casings removed
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese
1/4 cup sliced pickled jalapeños
1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone or inverted baking sheet inside for at least 30 minutes.
On a floured surface, stretch or roll the pizza dough into a 12-inch round. Transfer to a floured pizza peel or parchment paper.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it into small pieces, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Sprinkle mozzarella and provolone cheeses on top.
Scatter the cooked sausage and pickled jalapeños over the cheese. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle red pepper flakes if using.
Slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly, 10-12 minutes.
Remove from oven, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, let cool for 2 minutes, then slice and serve.
Tips
For extra heat, use hot Italian sausage and add fresh jalapeño slices instead of pickled.
Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
Leftover pizza can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in a hot oven or toaster oven.
