Ingredients
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup warm water (110°F)
1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon olive oil
8 ounces Italian sausage, casings removed
4 ounces ham, diced
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand 5 minutes until foamy. In a large bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, and salt. Add yeast mixture and melted butter; stir until dough forms. Knead on floured surface 5 minutes until smooth. Place in oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 425°F. Grease a 9-inch deep-dish pizza pan or cast-iron skillet with olive oil.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage, breaking it up, until browned. Add ham and cook 1 minute. Remove from heat.
Punch down dough. Press into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pan. Sprinkle half the mozzarella and half the Parmesan over the dough. Spread sausage and ham mixture evenly on top. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
In a small bowl, mix crushed tomatoes, oregano, and garlic powder. Spoon over the cheese layer, spreading to edges.
Bake 30-35 minutes until crust is golden and filling is bubbly. Let cool 10 minutes before slicing.
Tips
For a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
Leftover pizza can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated in a 350°F oven.
