Ingredients
- 12 fresh ripe figs
- 12 thin slices prosciutto di Parma
- 4 oz fresh mozzarella or burrata, torn into small pieces
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp balsamic glaze
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Gently rinse figs and pat dry. Cut a cross into the top of each fig, about halfway down, or slice in half lengthwise.
- Tear each prosciutto slice in half lengthwise. Wrap a piece around each fig, leaving the top exposed.
- Arrange wrapped figs on a serving platter. Tuck small pieces of mozzarella or burrata into the fig openings.
- Drizzle honey and balsamic glaze over the figs. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Serve immediately.
Tips
- For a variation, add a small piece of gorgonzola inside each fig before wrapping.
- If figs are very ripe, handle gently to avoid breaking.
- Can be served as part of an antipasto platter.
