Ingredients
1 (16 oz) bag thick-cut potato chips
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 packet (1 oz) dry onion soup mix
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 medium tomatoes, seeded and diced
1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional)
2 tablespoons lime juice
Salt to taste
Instructions
In a medium bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, onion soup mix, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until well blended. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
In another bowl, combine diced tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño (if using), and lime juice. Season with salt to taste. Mix well.
Arrange potato chips on a large platter or in a shallow bowl.
Place the French onion dip and salsa in separate small bowls alongside the chips.
Serve immediately, or refrigerate dips separately until serving.
Tips
For a lighter dip, substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream.
The dips can be made up to a day in advance and stored covered in the refrigerator.
Add extra toppings like shredded cheese or sliced olives to the platter for variety.
