Ingredients
3 tablespoons vegetable oil or coconut oil
1/2 cup popcorn kernels
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
2 tablespoons melted butter (optional)
Instructions
Place a large pot with a tight-fitting lid over medium-high heat. Add the oil and 3 popcorn kernels.
When the test kernels pop, remove the pot from heat, add the remaining kernels, and cover. Let sit for 30 seconds.
Return the pot to medium heat. Shake the pot occasionally as the kernels start to pop. Once popping slows to 2-3 seconds between pops, remove from heat.
Pour popcorn into a large bowl. Drizzle with melted butter if using, sprinkle with salt, and toss to combine. Serve immediately.
Tips
For extra flavor, try adding nutritional yeast, chili powder, or grated Parmesan cheese.
Store leftover popcorn in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
