Ingredients
6 ripe but firm pears (such as Bosc or Bartlett), peeled, cored, and sliced 1/4-inch thick
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking dish or similar 1.5-quart dish.
In a large bowl, combine sliced pears, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat evenly. Transfer to the prepared baking dish.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Add cold butter cubes and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized butter pieces.
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the pears.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, until the filling is bubbly and the topping is golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
