Ingredients
2 slices white bread (or sourdough)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
2 slices cheddar cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)
Instructions
Spread 1 tablespoon of softened butter on one side of each bread slice.
Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in a cold non-stick skillet. Layer with cheese slices, then top with the second bread slice, buttered side up.
Heat the skillet over medium-low heat. Cook for 3 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula. Cook for another 3 minutes, until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
Remove from skillet, let cool for 1 minute, then slice diagonally and serve.
Tips
For extra flavor, add a pinch of salt or garlic powder to the butter.
Serve with tomato soup or a side salad for a complete meal.
Use a lid to cover the skillet for the last minute to help melt the cheese faster.
