Ingredients
1 cup warm water (110°F)
1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
1 tbsp granulated sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg, beaten
For topping: 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand 5-10 minutes until foamy.
In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture, melted butter, and beaten egg. Stir until a dough forms.
Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled.
Punch down dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 6-inch rope. Place on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400°F. Bake breadsticks for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
While baking, mix melted butter and garlic powder. Brush over hot breadsticks and sprinkle with salt.
Tips
For extra softness, brush with butter immediately after baking.
Serve warm with marinara sauce or Alfredo for dipping.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
