Ingredients
1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Add cold butter pieces and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized clumps.
Spread the crumble evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden brown and fragrant.
Let cool completely on the baking sheet; the crumble will crisp as it cools.
Tips
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
For extra crunch, add 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts with the oats.
Sprinkle over apple crisp or use as a topping for muffins before baking.
