Ingredients
2 oz rye whiskey
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
3/4 oz simple syrup
1/2 oz egg white (optional, for foam)
1 oz dry red wine (e.g., Malbec or Shiraz)
Ice cubes
Lemon wheel and cherry for garnish
Instructions
Fill a shaker with ice. Add rye whiskey, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white (if using).
Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to chill and combine.
Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
Slowly pour the red wine over the back of a spoon held just above the drink's surface so it floats on top.
Garnish with a lemon wheel and a cherry.
Tips
For a frothier texture, dry shake (without ice) the egg white with the other ingredients first, then add ice and shake again.
Use a bold red wine like a Malbec or Shiraz for the best color and flavor contrast.
