Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tbsp homemade blend)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 can (16 oz) refried beans
- 1 bag (13 oz) tortilla chips (restaurant style)
- 2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
- 1/2 cup nacho cheese sauce (optional)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup guacamole
- 1/2 cup pico de gallo or salsa
- 1/4 cup sliced pickled jalapeños
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned, breaking it up. Drain excess fat.
- Add taco seasoning and water; simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Spread refried beans in a thin layer on a large oven-safe platter or baking sheet.
- Top with a layer of tortilla chips, then half the seasoned beef, half the shredded cheese, and half the nacho cheese sauce (if using).
- Add another layer of chips, remaining beef, remaining shredded cheese, and remaining nacho cheese sauce.
- Bake for 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and top with sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapeños, and cilantro. Serve immediately.
Tips
- For extra crunch, use thick restaurant-style chips.
- Customize with black beans, diced tomatoes, or olives.
- Leftovers can be stored separately and reheated in the oven.
