Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Mix in vanilla.
Alternately add flour mixture and buttermilk to butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour, mixing just until combined.
Transfer 1 1/2 cups of batter to a small bowl. Stir in cocoa powder and milk until smooth.
Spoon half of the vanilla batter into prepared pan. Spoon chocolate batter over it, then top with remaining vanilla batter. Use a knife to swirl through batters to create a marble effect.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack for 15 minutes, then invert onto rack to cool completely.
Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
Tips
Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best texture.
To prevent sticking, thoroughly grease and flour the bundt pan, including the center tube.
Store cake covered at room temperature for up to 3 days.
