Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 2 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Divide cooked rice among 4 plates and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Form into 4 patties, slightly larger than the bun to account for shrinkage.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add butter and whisk in beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and onion powder. Bring to a simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Whisk into the simmering broth and cook until thickened, about 2 minutes. Keep warm.
- In a separate non-stick skillet, fry eggs sunny-side up over medium heat until whites are set but yolks are runny.
- Place a patty on each bed of rice, top with an egg, and ladle gravy over the top. Serve immediately.
Tips
- For extra flavor, add sautéed mushrooms to the gravy.
- Leftover gravy can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- If you prefer well-done eggs, cook them over easy instead.
