Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 8 slices mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Form mixture into 12 meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown meatballs on all sides, about 5 minutes.
- Pour marinara sauce into the skillet, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until meatballs are cooked through.
- Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Place on a baking sheet.
- Place 3 meatballs and a spoonful of sauce into each roll. Top with 2 slices of mozzarella.
- Bake sandwiches for 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve immediately.
Tips
- For extra flavor, toast the rolls lightly before assembling.
- Leftover meatballs can be stored separately and reheated.
