2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/4 cup chopped almonds or pecans
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup heavy cream
4 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Remove from heat and quickly stir in nuts and baking soda. Immediately pour onto prepared baking sheet and spread thin. Let cool completely, then break into pieces.
For the chocolate sauce, heat cream in a small saucepan until just simmering. Remove from heat, add chopped chocolate, and let sit 1 minute. Stir until smooth.
Add butter, vanilla, and salt; stir until glossy. Let cool slightly before serving.
To garnish sundaes, drizzle chocolate sauce over ice cream and top with brittle pieces.
Tips
Store brittle in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
Chocolate sauce can be refrigerated for up to 2 weeks; reheat gently before serving.
