Ingredients
1/2 cup slivered almonds
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 pint vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup hot fudge sauce, warmed
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon powdered sugar
4 maraschino cherries
Instructions
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine almonds, sugar, butter, vanilla, and salt. Cook, stirring constantly, until sugar melts and turns amber, about 5-7 minutes.
Immediately pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread into a thin layer. Let cool completely, about 10 minutes, then break into small pieces.
In a medium bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
For each sundae, place two scoops of vanilla ice cream in a serving dish. Drizzle with warm hot fudge sauce.
Sprinkle generously with the almond crunch, top with whipped cream, and garnish with a cherry. Serve immediately.
Tips
Store leftover crunch in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
For extra indulgence, use chocolate or caramel ice cream instead of vanilla.
