Ingredients
1 lb deli-sliced roast beef
4 hoagie rolls, split
4 slices provolone cheese
2 cups beef gravy, homemade or store-bought
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a small bowl, mix softened butter with garlic powder and onion powder. Spread the butter mixture on the cut sides of the hoagie rolls.
Place the rolls on a baking sheet, cut side up, and toast in the oven for 5 minutes until lightly golden.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan, heat the beef gravy over medium heat until simmering. Add the sliced roast beef and cook for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
Remove rolls from oven. Place a slice of provolone cheese on the bottom half of each roll.
Using tongs, pile the hot roast beef onto the cheese. Spoon a little extra gravy over the meat.
Place the top half of the roll on each sandwich. Serve immediately with extra gravy on the side for dipping.
Tips
For extra flavor, add sautéed onions or peppers.
Leftover gravy can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
