Ingredients
1 hamburger bun, split
1/4 lb (113g) ground beef (80/20)
1 slice American cheese
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1 dill pickle slice
1 small potato, cut into thin fries
1/2 cup vegetable oil for frying
Salt to taste
1 small apple or 2 cookies for treat
Instructions
Season ground beef with salt and shape into a thin patty slightly larger than the bun.
Cook patty in a skillet over medium-high heat for 3 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. In the last minute, top with cheese slice and cover to melt.
Toast bun halves in the skillet or toaster until lightly golden.
For fries: cut potato into thin strips, soak in cold water for 10 minutes, then pat dry. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry potatoes in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden. Drain on paper towels and salt immediately.
Assemble burger: spread ketchup and mustard on bottom bun, add pickle slice, then patty with cheese, and top bun.
Serve burger with fries and treat (apple or cookies) on the side.

For a healthier version, bake fries at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes with a little oil.
