Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (about 9x9 inches), thawed
- 8 ounces guava paste, sliced into 8 pieces
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out puff pastry sheet to a 12x12 inch square. Cut into 8 equal rectangles (about 3x6 inches each).
- Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on one half of each rectangle, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
- Place a slice of guava paste on top of the cream cheese.
- Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling to form a rectangle. Press edges to seal, then crimp with a fork.
- Place pastries on prepared baking sheet. Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar. Cut small slits on top for steam to escape.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown and puffed. Let cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes before serving.
Tips
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
