Ingredients
2 slices white bread (or sourdough)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
2 slices cheddar cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)
Instructions
Butter one side of each bread slice with 1 tablespoon butter each.
Place one slice, butter-side down, in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
Top with both cheese slices, then place the other bread slice on top, butter-side up.
Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Flip carefully and cook until the other side is golden brown and cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes more.
Remove from skillet, let cool for 1 minute, then slice and serve.
Tips
For extra flavor, add a pinch of salt or garlic powder to the butter.
Serve with tomato soup for a classic pairing.
Use a lid to cover the pan briefly to help melt the cheese faster.
